Safe Extraction and Storage of Fuel
The safe use, handling and storage of flammable and explosive substances is critical in an automotive workshop or ELV depollution workplace. Fires and explosions cause serious property damage in motor vehicle workshops and ELV stations, and can result in death or serious injury. Mostly, they involve the mishandling of petrol when draining fuel tanks and lines, but incidents can also occur during hot work.
This training offers awareness of the hazards and risks associated with drilling and extracting flammable fuels from vehicles, as well as highlighting how to safely store these fuels after recovery.

What does it cover?
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

Demonstrate the appropriate awareness and precautions to be taken when extracting different types of flammable fuel from an ELV.

Highlight incorrect practices and know how to avoid common mistakes when handling flammable fuels:
-whilst carrying out hot work in the proximity.
-during the tank drilling process.
-during the draining process.
-when storing fuel.

Highlight the hazards and associated risks with drilling ELV fuel tanks and extraction using specialist depollution equipment.

Demonstrate how to safely drill and extract vehicle fuel (petrol and diesel) from a vehicle's fuel tank.

Demonstrate how to operate a specialist fluid depollution station (fuel extraction).

Demonstrate how a fuel farm operates and how to safely store flammable fuels post-extraction.

How long will it take?
This course will take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to complete, and is comprised of 55 slides, including videos and quizzes.
