The number one cause of vehicles falling from lifts is user error. Learning how to safely use a car lift could save your life. The HSE and Health and Safety regulations including LOLER and PUWER require lift safety training for anyone who operates an automotive lift. This course teaches the correct use of vehicle lifts.

 

Course objectives include:

  • An introduction to vehicle lifting equipment – lifts and jacks.

  • Legislation relating to lifting equipment – LOLER (Lift Operations and Lift Equipment Regulations) and the Machinery Directive.

  • The safe use of vehicle lifts, including lifting capability, vehicle weight and the importance of establishing a vehicle’s centre of gravity.

  • Types of lift typically used in a motor vehicle repair workshop or ELV depollution and dismantling facility.

  • Identifying different types of lift and their separate safety precautions.

  • The importance of inspections, maintenance and training in the use of vehicle lifts.
