About the Course
Our very first training module provides a starting point for all of our other ELV training. This module offers an overview of end-of-life vehicles, relevant legislation and the fundamentals of the depollution and dismantling processes.
You will be able to:
Understand what is an End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV).
Understand the current ELV climate and subsequent market trends that impact the ELV sector.
Identify the manufacturing materials and operating fluids used in general vehicle construction.
Understand the considerations that have to be made when depolluting and dismantling vehicles at the end of their operating life.
Provide an overview of current ELV legislation both in the UK and across Europe.
Explain who has responsibility for enforcing ELV regulations across the UK.
Highlight and explain the whole vehicle depollution and dismantling process.

This course is designed for anyone who needs awareness of ELVs, with an overview of the current market and trends that influence the sector.
This course is designed for anyone who needs technical knowledge of the ELV process including dismantling and depollution.
No experience is needed to take part in this course, it is aimed at all levels within an organisation or company.
Suitable for operatives, technicians, supervisors and management.
This is the very first module in our portfolio, providing a starting point for the rest of our ELV training syllabus. This lesson offers an overview of end-of-life vehicles, the relevant legislation and the fundamentals of both the depollution and dismantling processes.
You must depollute all ELVs. If you do not fully depollute an ELV it will continue to be considered hazardous waste.
To depollute a vehicle, an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) must remove the:
wheels, tyres and lead balance weights.
liquefied gas tank (if present).
liquids - including coolants, antifreeze, brake fluid, air-conditioning gas, shock absorber fluid and windscreen wash.
oils - including engine, gearbox, transmission and hydraulic oils.
parts with mercury, like switches.
