Explosive Atmospheres and DSEAR
Explosive atmospheres in the workplace can be caused by flammable gases, mists or vapours or by combustible dusts. This DSEAR training course provides you with a full introduction to requirements and regulations and will ensure you understand the risks from dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres, specifically relating to vehicle workshops and ELV depollution activities.
FOUNDATION
Emergency Spill Response Training
Spills and pollution can be extremely damaging to the environment. This course offers delegates the understanding of how spills occur, how to reduce the chances of them occurring and provides practical tools to be able to handle a spill effectively.
SKILL
ELV Depollution Rig Familiarisation
Vehicle depollution & dismantling rigs are available in numerous combinations. This course is designed to familiarise delegates with the features and functionality available on modern ELV depollution stations. Learn how to use the equipment efficiently, safely and just as importantly, learn how to look after it.
FOUNDATION
Safe Operation of Vehicle Lifts
The number one cause of vehicles falling from lifts is user error. Learning how to safely use a car lift could save your life. The HSE and Health and Safety regulations including LOLER and PUWER require lift safety training for anyone who operates an automotive lift. This course teaches the correct use of vehicle lifts.
FOUNDATION
Understanding Vehicle Recycling
The automobile is already one of the most effectively recovered and recycled consumer products, with its parts being used again in vehicles or for other purposes. This introductory course offers students an overview of the processes involved in recycling vehicles, the technologies adopted and the typical machinery used within sector.
SKILL
Vehicle SLI Battery Removal
A battery does not store electricity; it stores the chemical energy necessary to produce electricity. This course is all about lead acid batteries. How they work, the hazards, the risks, and importantly, how to safely handle and store them.
SKILL
Safe Neutralisation and Handling of Vehicle Pyrotechnics
Supplementary Restraint Systems rely on pyrotechnic devices to operate, at very high speed and with explosive force. This course familiarises delegates with Supplementary Restraint Systems (SRS) and how to safely handle and neutralise these devices.
SKILL
Removal and Separation of Road Wheels
Tyre removal, replacement and deflation should only be tackled by competent staff who have been trained to recognise the hazards and can safely manage the associated risks.
SKILL
Safe Extraction and Storage of Fuel
The safe use, handling and storage of flammable and explosive substances is critical in an automotive workshop or ELV depollution workplace. This training offers critical awareness of the hazards and risks associated with drilling and extracting flammable fuels from vehicles including methods for their safe storage.
SKILL
Engine and Drivetrain Oil Recovery
Vehicle oils and lubricants can be extremely damaging to the environment and must be properly recovered from end-of-life vehicles. This courses ensures delegates are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with extracting and storing used engine, gearbox and drivetrain oils.
SKILL
Removing Catalytic Converters
The catalytic converter is regarded as the most profitable part of an end-of-life vehicle. This course ensures delegates are familiar with the precautions, hazards, methods and tooling for cutting and removing catalytic converters from vehicle exhaust systems.
SKILL
Recovering Hydraulic Oil from Vehicle Systems
There are various hydraulic systems present in modern vehicles, so this course ensures that delegates are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with extracting and storing used hydraulic fluids from an ELV, typically found in braking, clutch and suspensions systems.
SKILL
Recovering Coolant and Screenwash from ELVs
Most people do not realise how toxic antifreeze and screen wash really is. This course teaches how to safely recover and store these vehicle fluids and ensures that delegates have a solid understanding of all associated hazards and risks.
SKILL
Safe Storage of Hazardous Components and Substances
ELV depollution can create large volumes of hazardous substances that need to be handled and stored safely and appropriately. This course is designed to ensure delegates understand the requirements associated with the safe storage of hazardous materials and substances, after they have been extracted from an ELV.
SKILL
Post Depollution Requirements and Procedures
Legislation stipulates that Authorised Treatment Facilities have certain responsibilities once they have depolluted an End-of-Life vehicle. This course explores the post-depollution requirements of ELVs, and the responsibilities of ATFs.
SKILL
Safe Recovery and Flaring of Liquid Petroleum Gas
Technicians working with alternative fuelled LPG powered cars and vans must be able to safely recover or flare the fuel from an ELV. This course teaches delegates how to do it safely.
SKILL
