Around half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels are due to unsafe working practices and operator error. If you work with abrasive wheels then following strict health and safety practices is paramount in order to protect both yourself and others from harm.

 

This Abrasive Wheels course will provide you with an introduction to working safely with abrasive wheels so that you can easily identify the hazards, understand the risks and know which control measures are needed to prevent injury and ill-health.

 

This courses includes:

  • Understanding what an abrasive wheel is.
  • Identifying the risks associated with using abrasive wheels.
  • The law and who is responsible.
  • Safety measures including PPE, training, guards, rests & hot work permits.
  • Types of abrasive wheel.
  • Wheel selection.
  • Setting up and mounting the wheel – ring test, how to mount, flanges and blotters.
  • Pre-use safety checks – speed, power and the use of grinding fluid.
  • Abrasive wheel maintenance - truing, dressing, balancing, handling and storage.

  • What does it cover?

    At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

    • Understand what an abrasive wheel is.

    • Identify the risks associated with using abrasive wheels.

  • How long will it take?

    This course will take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to complete, and is comprised of 75 slides, including videos and quizzes.

     

    You are enrolled on our programme for 4 weeks to complete and pass the course.
