Vehicle oils and lubricants can be extremely damaging to the environment and must be properly recovered from end-of-life vehicles. This course ensures delegates are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with extracting and storing used engine, gearbox and drivetrain oils.

 

It will also cover the functions of oil as a vehicle lubricant, how the oil draining features on common depollution rigs work. This courses ensures delegates are familiar with the hazards and risk associated with extracting and storing used engine, gearbox and drivetrain oils.

  • The functions of oil as a vehicle lubricant.

  • How the oil draining features on common depollution rigs works.

  • The technical knowledge required to be able to safely drain vehicle oils (engine, gearbox and axle oils) from a vehicle’s sump and other drain points.

  • The technical knowledge needed to safely extract vehicle lubrication oils (engine, gearbox and axle oils) from a vehicle’s components using typical extraction tools including specialist drills and punches, when drain points are not available.

  • How to safely and proficiently, remove a vehicle's oil filter using various tools, including filter wrenches.

  • What handling and storage precautions need to be considered when recovering and storing depolluted oils.
