TRAINING TODAY FOR THE CHALLENGES OF TOMORROW

The DVLA reports that there are 38.3 million internal combustion engine (ICE) powered cars and vans on UK roads. 20.4 million of these are at least ten years old or more, and are likely to be decommissioned within the next five years. To meet this demand, authorised treatment facilities (ATFs) need to significantly increase processing capacity. Current ATFs process around 1 million vehicles per year. To prevent a backlog with millions of cars and vans forced to go into storage whilst they await decommissioning, the vehicle recycling industry needs to look to technology and training to drive efficiency.
